Tales TTRPG Player Manifesto

Teamwork, collaborative storytelling, and rule of cool reign supreme.

Welcome to another season of a Tales campaign! We want to take a moment to go over our expectations of you as a player, and what you can expect from your Game Master (GM).

Forgotten Season 3 will be a longer campaign and we want to ensure we facilitate an environment where everyone is having fun! That is our first and primary goal.

You are required before the campaign starts to read the below thoroughly and acknowledge you have read through this document.

Game Sitrep

Your GameMaster is: Crystal

Campaign Genre: Scifi / Fantasy / Adventure

GM Style: Heavy on roleplay and storytelling with less focus on combat mechanics. Rule of cool wins 99% of the time.

What is means to play in a Tales TTRPG Production

1.) This campaign will be live streamed on twitch and youtube. As such, ensure you are always following Youtube and Twitch terms of service while playing.

We encourage all players to have their cams on during a session! However, we know some people are introverts, or maybe you’re just not feeling it that day. We understand. While the camera’s being on is heavily encouraged, it is not required for forgotten season 3.

However! It is important you let your GM know at least 30 minutes before the session if you’ll have your camera on or not. Why? Because this game is being live streamed and an overlay has been created for a pretty viewer experience. If you’re not going to have your camera on, your Game Master has to set up things differently, so just let Crystal know so she has time to prepare!

2.) This campaign will be used to promote the Tales Fiction Network and our audio dramas. Clips may be taken of the session and promoted on social media.

3.) No AI. We will never use AI artwork for characters, maps or game assets and we will never give consent for your voices to be used in any sort of AI training or cloning.

4.) The world of Forgotten is loosely based on a world created by Crystal but your characters are your own. You own them. Tales will never use your characters in any of our audio dramas or future productions without your consent. The reverse is also true, by playing in a Tales Campaign you have no commercial rights to the Forgotten Universe.

Player Expectations

aka how to have an AMAZING time aka how to make your GM happy so she wants to give you things, like presents and XP

1.) Teamwork! The reason to play in an TTRPG is to play a fun game with other people. In an universe like Forgotten, and with your characters working with an organization like SVTDC this is strongly encouraged.

This doesn’t mean your character can’t have selfish motivations for doing things. That’s absolutely fine. But again, team work! Let other players help you do things and conspire together to accomplish main mission objectives (those reasons can be selfish if you want! I’m only helping you so I don’t die – as an example)

2.) Strive to make relationships with each other, not the NPCs. As your GM I’ll be playing plenty of characters. And in past seasons of Forgotten you’ve all made great friends with NPCs (The Riddle Door, Dio, and Ezkiel come to mind) but as a player make effort to get to know the other players at the table. Reach for your fellow teammates, not the NPCs. After all, you might not be able to trust every NPC you meet. 🙂

3.) Share the spotlight. Everyone will get their chance in the limelight. It’s my job as your GM to help facilitate this and give every character a moment to shine. I want this for you. Maybe it doesn’t happen every session, but we promise over the course of this game your character will have their moment (if you want it of course, no pressure introverts!). But tie this one back into team. Let characters help you. Don’t brush off others’ opinions or suggestions even if they’re not your own. Your moment will come. Remember this is collaborative storytelling.

4.) Handling challenging RP scenes. Understand that you are not your character. We’re not all professional actors, moments get intense, characters can argue, and it can be hard to separate ourselves from our creations. They are our creations after all. That’s okay! BUT! Remember to take a breath if you’re in a really intense scene with another character. Ask for a break if you need too. If you personally do not like personal conflict that is also okay! Understand your triggers, and let your GM know. There is always something we can do to facilitate those moments so the Roleplay remains fun and engaging. Remember we are here to have fun.

5.) Communication is everything! If you’re confused about something, having issues with another player, get uncomfortable during a scene, or just need a time out after a butt clenching moment, understand that your GM has an open door policy and one of anonymity. Reach out anytime. This is a safe space for everyone, we got you.

Violation of Rules

We know that you won’t violate any rules, so we’re not concerned. But we’re putting this in here, just so everything is clear.

1.) First instance you will receive a warning, in a private message from your GM. After the session if you need to, you are welcome to discuss the issue with your GM.

2.) Second instance, you will be given your last and final warning.

3.) You will be removed from the game.

Please note, more egregious offenses, such as those of hate speech or harassment can result in an immediate ban and removal from the game at your GMs discretion.

And that’s it! Have an absolutely wonderful time gaming and we’ll see you in Forgotten Season 3!

TTRPG Consent Form

Remember, regardless of what you put on this form, you are allowed and encouraged to withdraw consent from any interaction at the table for any reason (or even no reason at all) if you no longer feel comfortable or safe interacting with that content. Your priority and your GM’s priority is to make a story that takes into account the comfort and safety of all parties involved. The point of running an rpg is to have fun, and if you’re not having fun then it’s important for you to speak up.

You are also allowed and encouraged to edit your answers on this form and share new and updated copies with the appropriate parties as often as you need, whether that be once a campaign or before or after every single session.

P.S. We selected items to put on this form that more than likely may wind up in the campaign. If you don’t see something on here, more than likely we won’t cover it. Also important to know, we will NEVER deal with subjects that involve rape or sexual assault.

Step 1 of 2
Name we know you as, so I know who filled out the form 🙂

This section explains how this form works! In terms of the options given to consent to the different aspects of the game, we will be using a GREEN/YELLOW/RED scale. Choosing GREEN indicates that you are okay interacting with this aspect of the game, and have no problems hearing about it. Choosing YELLOW indicates that you would be okay interacting with this aspect of the game if you are given adequate warning ahead of time and mental space to prepare before interacting with the content (for example, a warning at the beginning of the session or before the content becomes immediately relevant). Choosing RED indicates that you are not at all okay with interacting with this aspect of the game, and do not want to hear about it under any circumstance. Please read this question as many times as it takes to understand the GREEN/YELLOW/RED system of consent, and when you feel you understand it comfortably please check the box below and continue to the rest of the form.
